Southport's iconic Kingsway nightclub has been destroyed by 80ft flames, in a blaze that lasted more than 12 hours. Fifty firefighters tackled the huge inferno through the night while crowds gathered to watch on the Promenade and cars packed into Morrisons car park. The blaze started at the derelict building at around 8pm on Monday (September 6). Seven fire engines and two aerial units were called, and high pressure hoses were used to beat back flames.

The Indiana Gaming Commission has found that one of its staffers hid dozens of gamblers' complaints against the state's 13 casinos for a year or more, the agency said. The commission found the misconduct after questions from The Times of Munster prompted an internal review about why 56 of 154 complaints made against the casinos during 2009 had gone unanswered. Commission Deputy Director Jennifer Reske told The Times that the staffer, whom she wouldn't identify, faced disciplinary action. The newspaper published its story Sunday.

Las Vegas - A man claiming to have a bomb around his chest prompted an evacuation of a Las Vegas casino for several hours. The Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Sun report that the threat Saturday turned out to be a hoax and the man was arrested after the incident at Arizona Charlie's Hotel and Casino. Police say the man apparently wanted to commit "suicide by cop." His name wasn't immediately released.

The Ministry of the Economy is planning to send a bill to Chile's Congress that would allow cruise ships to operate their casinos while in Chilean waters. This would repeal a section of the 2005 Casinos Act that requires all cruise ships to shut down their casinos when they pass within 13.8 miles of Chile's shoreline.
